Finance/Operations Practice Leader
Neil J. Abitabilo has over thirty-five years experience as a Consultant and as a "C" level Executive: in a national consulting firm at the Partner level; as a Managing Director within a regional consulting practice; and as an independent financial and management consulting Principal. His Corporate experience is in diverse manufacturing and service environments, where he had significant responsibilities in Financial, Operating and General Management. Areas of expertise include M&A; Domestic and International Financings; Start up, Turnaround, and Bankruptcies; SEC Reporting; Systems Implementation; and Contract Negotiations. He participated in a LBO as an equity investor and top executive. He has worked for public companies at the corporate and division level; for multi-national enterprises; and for private, closely held corporations. His industry experience includes manufacturing, equipment, transportation, fabrication and assembly, and industrial services. He has consulted for entities in these areas as well as retail, biotech, financial services, general business services, information technology, and distribution. Neil was Managing Director/Partner for GFO Consulting, LLC, responsible for the mid-market sector for the New York to Philadelphia region. He was the CFO for Atlantic Express Transportation Group, Inc., the fourth largest school bus company in the US, and was involved in the exit from bankruptcy, the refinancing with a bond and equity offering, necessitating SEC registration and reporting.
Prior to Atlantic, Neil was a Partner for Tatum Consulting - a national consulting group He was the CFO/COO, Shareholder and Director for HPG International, Inc. a polymer manufacturer with $100 million in annual revenue. HPG started through a leverage buyout from a large European Company. He was instrumental in closing negotiations for the acquisition. As COO, he managed this business and was the lead dealmaker and negotiator for M&A activity, with acquisitions in excess of $25 million and divestitures totaling $50 million, and for various bank re-financings, long-term supply agreements, and union contracts. And as Chief Restructuring Officer, he submitted the Plan of Reorganization ending with HPG's successful exit from Chapter 11.
Previous positions include CFO and GM for Rheometrics, Inc., a publicly traded, materials instrumentation manufacturer. He served as the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer for the largest US subsidiary of ASEA Brown Boveri (ABB), and was General Manager for the company's Hydro business. The earliest part of his career was spent with Pantasote, Inc., a plastics manufacturing (PVC sheet and compounded materials), public company, in various positions ending as the Group Divisional Controller and Administrative Services Manager for the company's three largest divisions, when he managed all shared Financial and Administrative Departments.
Neil graduated from Seton Hall University with an MBA in Finance, has a BS degree in Accounting from Fordham University, and he is a Certified Management Account (CMA).
