Thomas W. Aiken has been providing financial leadership and business advisory services to middle market and emerging growth companies for over 8 years. In addition, Tom has more than 30 years of financial experience as a CFO of public and venture-backed companies.
As a consultant, Tom has provided clients with such services as developing strategic plans, budgets, financial policies, procedures and internal controls; providing interim support of accounting and finance organizations; directing pre-audit and audit preparation, systems implementation and refinancing projects. Tom has also assisted in IPO preparation, SEC filings, investor due diligence, raising capital, liaison with banks and investors, and financial and operational assessments. Additionally, he has been involved in turnarounds.
Industries that Tom has served include software, manufacturing, nonprofit, medical devices, cleantech, social media, and telecommunications.
Tom's corporate experience includes international mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity creation, IPOs, treasury operations, global accounting and financial system implementations, and various Securities and Exchange Commission registrations and filings. Tom has served on boards of directors and has had responsibility for several multinational organizations.
Tom was a Principal with the DGK Group, a regional public accounting firm, where he provided outsourced CFO consulting services and business development from 2006 to 2013. Prior to DGK, Tom was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Prescient Applied Intelligence, a public software company. From 2002 to 2005 he was the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Lamina Ceramics Inc., a technology spin-out from Sarnoff Corporation. From 2000 to 2002 Tom was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sychip, Inc. a technology venture of Lucent Technologies. From 1996 to 2000 he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of GMT Microelectronics Corporation, a semiconductor company. Prior to 1996 Tom served as the Chief Financial Officer of technology companies Teleos Communications Inc., Gandalf Systems Corporation and Infotron Systems Corporation. Tom has also held accounting and finance positions with Ford Aerospace and General Electric, and served in the U.S. Army.
Tom received a B.S. Business Administration from Virginia Southern College and is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. Tom serves the Board of the Entrepreneurs' Forum of Greater Philadelphia. He served on the Board of the Greater Philadelphia Senior Executive Group where he chaired the Audit Committee, and as a member of the Advisory Board of the Mid-Atlantic Diamond Ventures.
